I seriously debated with myself weither I should explain this or not as I'm not sure if it would bother people at all but in the end I felt I really should and assure the world I have not sold out.
Regular readers will know that I studied Marketing at University and the even more astute among you will know that in my dissertation thesis I specialised in social media and viral marketing. Now I can assure you that if everyone that ever visited my blog clicked on an advert on my page, I would still only make the tiniest bit of money, as in maybe a couple of dollars, I'm not completely sure to be honest, but I am sure its peanuts. The reason I have signed up to google adsense and posted ads on my blog is just because I want to learn more about google adsense and how it all works. Given I hope to one day work in social media marketing this is a great chance for me to start to get to grips with the software and how it all works. It will also allow me to add "Knowledge of Google Adsense" to my CV which I think will be helpful
Anyway I hope you can all forgive me and you can understand my thinking. If several people get in touch with a major moral issue with it and insist I remove them then I will but I'm sure you can all understand. I will always be completely transparent regarding updates to advertising on my page and the kind of money in generates. I am confident it will be so little it would hardly be worth passing it on to charity, but I may actually do that as a gesture.

Update, August 2013: Ok so I have had adverts on my page now for around three months, it took quite a while to get everything sorted and verified but it all now is and I'm learning more about google adsense, which is of course the whole point. As expected my click through rate is comically low which makes studying the charts and tables basically pointless but just to keep you all in the loop, I have thus far made 8.53NOK or almost exactly £1 GBP. At his size I cant even withdraw this amount so technically I have actually made nothing. What I'm learning most about google adsense is how clever google are and no wonder they make so much money..
